Shelf Connect

Which phones to talk to, how, what happens when they send you files, and the optional AI helpers.

Phones

Every Shelf this extension has met. The active one gets your sends and is polled for files it pushes to browsers; the dashboard watches all of them.

Appearance & behaviour

Secure connection

Prefer the secure address
When the phone has HTTPS on (Settings → Secure connection), talk to it encrypted. Open the secure address once in a tab and accept its certificate first, or install the certificate from /shelf.crt.

When the phone sends files

Auto-download
Save new drops straight to your Downloads folder
Notifications
A system notification with Download / Open buttons, and when a phone download finishes
Zip when more than 3 files
One archive instead of many downloads

AI helpers optional

Summarise a page into Shelf chat, get clean file names for links, and ask questions about a folder. Off by default. With Chrome's built-in AI nothing leaves this computer; with the Claude API, the page text or file listing goes to Anthropic under your own key.

Provider
API key
Stored only in this browser's extension storage; never exported.
Model
Opus is the default; Haiku is the cheapest.
Try it
Sends one tiny request to check the key.

Shortcuts

Alt+Shift+S sends the current page · Alt+Shift+D opens the dashboard · Alt+Shift+F opens the popup · inside them, 1–6 switch views. Change them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Move to another browser

Export phones, sign-ins and preferences as a small JSON file (the AI key is left out) and import it elsewhere.

Forget everything
Removes all phones, sessions, preferences and the AI key from this browser. The phone is not affected.

The extension only talks to the addresses listed above (and to Anthropic if you turn the Claude API on). Version 2.0.0.
